Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/gas mark 4
Use a 23cm/9 inch round cake tin.
Grease and line the cake tin. Peel, core and chop the apples. Sift the flour, cinnamon and salt into a bowl and stir in the sugar and raisins. Mix in the butter, sour cream, milk and apples and beat until smooth. Turn the mixture into the prepared baking tin and bake for 1 to 1 1/4 hrs. Test with a warm knife before turning out onto a wire rack to cool. Sprinkle with icing sugar.
