Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas mark 5
Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the sour cream and mix well. Add the molasses, ginger and salt. Mix again. Add the baking soda to the hot water. Stir well. Add to the mixture. Sift together the flour, ginger and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
Drop the mixture by teaspoonful onto a greased baking tray. Bake for 10 -12 minutes, until just turning golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
