Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas mark 4
Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the pumpkin and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in the raisins.
Drop by teaspoonsful onto greased baking sheets. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
For the icing, melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the icing sugar/confectioner's sugar, milk and flavoring until smooth. Ice the cooled cookies.
