Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas mark 4
Cream together the oil, syrup, sour cream and vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the liquid mixture. Stir in the milk.
Drop by the teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with a fork. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool in the oven for 3 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
